BEATLES CULTURAL PRESENTATION

The Beatles changed everything and it started on the Ed Sullivan show in February 1964.  During this presentation, I explore the cultural impact of The Beatles through video clips, live music and fabulous sing-alongs.   This is the perfect interactive program for senior centers, libraries, fraternal clubs and schools.

Four presentations are available:  1940s, 1950s, 1960s/Beatles, and 1970s.  Each presentation combines multimedia with live acoustic music and singalongs.  See descriptions below.


1950s CULTURAL PRESENTATION


The "Beat Generation" of the 1950s is featured in this presentation.  We look at the post-war world and the notable events of the 1950s.  These include the Korean War, McCarthyism, the birth of McDonalds, and the influences of iconic entertainers like Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, and Elvis Presley.​


1940s CULTURAL PRESENTATION


Also known as The War Years,  this presentation focuses heavily on the struggles imposed by World War II.   

Paradoxically, it was a time of great despair and a time of great opportunity.  In this one-hour presentation, music is used to highlight the major events in politics, entertainment, science, and even the fads of the decade. Popular artists of the day included Bing Crosby, Cab Calloway, Jimmy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, and Frank Sinatra.

1970s CULTURAL PRESENTATION

The 1970s was deemed "The 'Me' Decade" by author Tom Wolfe.  The decade of the 1970s conjures up images of Watergate, the end of the Vietnam War, the election of a peanut farmer to the Presidency, rampant inflation, the rationing of gas and more.  There was no shortage of musicians willing to comment on the cultural happenings of the 1970s. These included Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Chicago, Simon and
Garfunkel, Yes, The Band, Bob Dylan, and others.​
